Pineau De Re, the 2014 Grand National Winner, stabled and trained at Claines, pays a visit to the Mug House to celebrate. Locals were swept away by the victory and celebrated in hundreds on the evening of April 5th. Dr Richard Newland, trainer, celebrated with them and then arranged a special visit from Pineau De Re to meet Landlady Judith Allen and her staff.
National Television and news have picked up on this and have helped put Claines and the Mug House even more firmly on the map. Plans are in hand for a special celebratory painting to be released by local artist, Christopher Hughes and Claines may also get a special road sign announcing its now most famous resident!
